XV Beacon feels like it’s off the beaten track, yet it’s just steps from the bustle of Downtown Crossing and Back Bay. Located just steps from Beacon Hill, the Massachusetts State House, and the financial district, XV Beacon is a transportive paradise of serenity and relaxation. The vibe is sexy and contemporary but the ethos is entirely Boston. Clocks and artworks around the lobby have an almost antique feeling, perfectly encapsulating the old-meets-new vibe that draws so many people to the city.
Like the city itself, this building has had many lives. The foundation dates to pre-Revolutionary Boston, when it was the home of Edward Bromfield. Around the turn of the century, it entered a new chapter with the construction of a gilded Beaux Arts cast-iron-and-limestone facade. Since then, the property has been home to the developers of the United States’s first subway system, as well as well as the Boston School Committee, which occupied the building from 1923 to 1999, at which point it transitioned into the hotel it is today.
Set in a turn-of-the-century Beaux Arts building, this luxury boutique hotel pairs elegant original features with modern comforts. The original marble and wrought-iron staircase is visible, but it’s the elegant glass cage elevator that service the rooms.
Each of the 63 rooms and suites comes with a personal gas fireplace which highlights the level of luxury and coziness. With only seven guest rooms per floor, XV Beacon has a distinctly residential feel. Every detail feels special. Outstanding service and rooms that pair comfort and elegance add to its rarified allure. All XV Beacon’s rooms are classically styled with high ceilings and art deco flourishes complemented by techy touches.
The hotel is family friendly with connecting rooms. Babysitting with a local nanny can be arranged with 24 hours’ notice.
Your four-legged family members are also welcome. The hotel even has “water bowl turndown” at bedtime. There is a $50 per stay, half of which gets donated to a local animal charity.
Service is first-class with staff anticipating needs and fulfilling them with charming efficiency. A complimentary town car is available to shuttle guests around the immediate Back Bay area.
XV Beacon occupies a convenient block near Boston Common, the State House, Beacon Hill, the city’s best Italian restaurants in the North End, and most of Boston’s major corporate offices in the Financial District.
