The Shangri-la Bosphorus is a five-star luxury hotel housed in a former waterfront warehouse on the European side of the Bosphorus river. Stepping inside, the scene shifts dramatically to lavish extravagance. A central atrium features an impressive centerpiece chandelier of Bohemian glass that extends over two stories. The mood is luxurious elegance. The service is very personable and wonderful.
The hotel’s 186 rooms are decorated in smart, elegant styling. The majority of the 17 suite rooms have their own private terrace, with some located on the corners of the hotel with panoramic views of the waterfront, Bosphorus and Asia.
The hotel is very welcoming for children with many rooms having an extra bed for kids. Some accommodations are available with two rooms linked by a common entrance, ideal for larger families. Babysitting and childcare is available and there’s a kids’ pool in the basement.
The hotel is located in Istanbul’s Besiktas district on the European side of the city. The surrounding area is a buzzing and a mostly modern neighborhood with plenty of shops, cafes, and restaurants within easy walking distance. The main tourist attractions of the old city however, such as the famous Grand Bazaar, Hagia Sophia, and Blue Mosque, are a good 20-minute drive away across the Golden Horn. A short walk away is the city’s Maritime Museum and the grand Dolmabahçe Palace. Because of the water setting, there are no grounds or gardens.
