After a total renovation, the Gansevoort has a revived style, a world-class art collection (including pieces by artists such as Banksy, Hassan Hajja, Frank Stella, and Mick Rock), new drinking and dining options.
The crowd is a mix of brunching neighborhood residents and locals on staycations to international tourists and older couples enjoying the city for the weekend. With such popular attractions as Little Island, the Whitney, the Highline, and designer shopping just blocks away, the hotel is ideal for those who want to get out and explore but still want to have lots of fun options to come back to.
The 186 guest rooms were completely rebuilt with touches like ombré wallpaper, backlit walnut headboards, and subway tiled bathrooms. Many suites boast Juliet balconies, while the duplex penthouse was designed by the Italian contemporary furniture brand Poliform. Guests of the Penthouse enjoy a fireplace, full kitchen, and 20-foot-high windows overlooking the Hudson River. All rooms are equipped with Google Nest Hubs with Google Assistants for accessing hotel services, Mirror home gyms for virtual workout classes, and wireless chargers built into end tables.
Furry friends under 50 lbs can stay for $100 a pet, each stay. And they’ll be spoiled rotten, with a bed, a mat monogrammed with their name, a small Fiji water, bowls and a toy.
The Chester is a lively spot for American bites and post-work drinks. Coffee + Cocktails serves Mediterranean-inspired dishes and a great brunch. Both eateries have indoor and outdoor seating. Saishin by Kissaki at the Gansevoort Rooftop is perfect for a la carte and omakase sushi with a view of the downtown skyline.
Therapist’s are dispatched to your room on request for a range of massages or stretch sessions as there is not a designated spa on property.
The hotel’s fitness room has up-to-the-minute get-in-shape toys: a Mirror work-out companion and Peloton bikes, free weights, treadmills, top-of-the-line boxing and speed bags, hand wraps and gloves, ellipticals and stair-steppers. You can also stream around 10,000 work-outs in all disciplines to the Mirror in your room.
Should you desire to go for a swim, there is a heated rooftop pool for doing short laps and taking in the 360-degree views.
