Diane von Fürstenberg is a Belgian fashion icon best known for her famous wrap dress. Fürstenberg’s revolutionary style has shaped women’s fashion for over four decades. Through her success as a fashion designer, Fürstenberg is proud to consider herself a feminist as she blazes a trail for future female leaders around the globe.
Fürstenberg once said, “I design for the woman who loves being a woman”. Fürstenberg wants women to always feel confident and beautiful in their own skin, and she hopes to empower them through her clothing lines. Fürstenberg also said she always travels light, as she strives to be in a good mood and enjoy life wherever she may be in the world. I absolutely love Fürstenberg’s feminist mantras, and I commend her for using her public platform to empower other women.
While I have never had the opportunity to meet the fashion queen herself, I have always admired Fürstenberg and her incredible work. I was thrilled to finally have the opportunity to visit the DVF Flagship Store in Manhattan’s Meatpacking district this week.
Whether you are looking for a wrap dress for a business meeting, evening gown for a charity event or a lightweight coverup to lounge by the pool, the DVF Flagship store has you covered. With the vast variety of gorgeous styles and prints, you can find pieces for every occasion. Once you see the store’s selection of glamorous accessories, chic handbags, and beautiful shoes, you will have no trouble putting together an outfit of your dreams — an outfit that empowers you to feel like your best self.
I highly recommend going to the DVF Flagship Store before November 1 to see Ashley Longshore’s remarkable exhibit of female icons. Through her colorful portraits, Longshore pays tribute to dozens of strong female figures, like Oprah Winfrey, Malala Yousafzai, Michelle Obama, Queen Elizabeth II, and, of course, Diane von Fürstenberg herself. Longshore also has a collection of the most ornate and stunning chairs, each meticulously embellished with the face of a feminist hero in history.
Needless to say, it is worth a visit.
