During the holiday season, party planning can go into full swing. With office parties, family celebrations and gathering of friends; there are an abundance of festivities.
Whether you’re hosting an annual holiday celebration or want to start a new holiday tradition, here are some great tips to help you plan a splendid holiday party.
Get started planning. Create a plan that identifies the event details for your holiday party. Theme, venue, time, date, guest count, food and beverage selections, decor, and event agenda must all be considered before you begin.
Choose a date that works for key guests. The holiday season is a very busy time of year. To help narrow down the ideal holiday party date, you’ll want to get the party date on the calendar early! Send out “Save the Date” notification at least one month in advance.
Find an appropriate venue. Depending on the size and type of your party, you may decide to host your holiday gathering outside your home. Old-fashioned inns offer a rustic charm, while a bar or restaurant can provide a lively atmosphere.
Send beautiful invitations. Choose a beautiful design for your party invitation that captures its essence. Regardless of whether your event is big or small, an accurate head count is a must. Send online invitations to help keep track of your guest list. Your guests can also RSVP via the invite!
Choose a festive theme. Having a theme to your holiday party will make things more festive and focus your planning. It will also add an element of fun for your guests.
Set up a hot cocoa bar. Regardless of your venue, have a hot cocoa bar to give the party an extra special holiday touch. Don’t forget the peppermint sticks and marshmallows!
The little details. Don’t forget the small details for the party. Decorations, menu selection, and music all add to holiday fun. I always like to include both holiday and traditional items for food, drink and music.
Consider donations. While most people bring a host/hostess gift to the party, consider asking people to bring a gift to donate instead. This will also work for your office party. Get a list from your local church, community center or Toys for Tots of needed items. It is a wonderful way to give back and have a positive effect on someone’s life.
Have fun. Planning an event can be a little stressful; that is normal. Just remember the goal of the party is for people to come together and take pleasure in each other’s company. Whatever your event, always remember to have fun and enjoy yourself!
Happy Holidays.
