The Prince Akatoki Hotel celebrates the Art, Ritual and Elegance of Japanese hospitality. From the moment you arrive, it feels as if you have entered a bubble of serenity. An overwhelming sense of calm pervades: big windows, soft lights and a stripped-back aesthetic ensures a calmness. The bones of the hotel are a Georgian townhouse which is in contrast to the Japanese-inspired minimalist sanctuary.
Sophisticated Japanese minimalism is the name of the game here, with large airy rooms which ooze calm and tranquility. The suites are luxurious and impressive in a minimalistic way. Charming touches include yoga mats and traditional Yukata robes.
The staff have embraced the Japanese-style hospitality and are happy to explain different customs, should you be interested. On site facilities are limited to the restaurant, bar and small gym. There is no spa but you can arrange for an in-room massage or the concierge can arrange for a treatment at a local spa.
The hotel’s TOKii restaurant is a destination in itself, and it follows the hotel’s minimal low-key vibe but with indisputably big flavors. In the morning, there is an option for the traditional Japanese breakfast; fresh, healthy and delicious. The American breakfast is available should you prefer it.
Just outside TOKii Restaurant, you will find the Malt Bar and Lounge, a clubby space where you can enjoy a cocktail or afternoon tea served 12 pm – 7 pm daily.
The location is wonderful as you are five minutes from Oxford Street. Take a stroll around Hyde Park’s Serpentine Lake or stop by Selfridges for some shopping. There are also plenty of restaurants and shops to explore.
