Hermès announced the opening of its new Madison Avenue flagship, located at 706 Madison Avenue. The new Upper East Side store spans 20,250 square feet and is a fusion of three buildings spread across four floors, the final of which opens to a rooftop garden.
The central structure of the boutique is a 1921 Federalist building. It anchors the southwest corner of the block and connects to two townhouses, one on Madison Avenue and another on 63rd Street, forming an L shape.
All of the building’s interiors are inspired by New York’s Art Deco past and a nod to Manhattan’s well-known skyscrapers. The space flows in a series of intimate spaces. Inside you will discover fashion jewelry, the silk universe, perfume, beauty, and men’s silk, leather goods, watches and equestrian collections.
The fifth floor space, which isn’t open to the public, houses an atelier where expert craftspeople from the brand will be on-hand to alter, repair and care for one’s purchases.
The official opening is October 3rd; marked with a special colorway of Hermès ‘American Quilts’ scarf designed, along with exclusive Kelly bags, a Bolide bag, two special watches, a jukebox, and a bicycle. The opening window display was created by Brooklyn artist Mike Perry.
