The Mark Hotel is an Upper East Side staple in New York City. The hotel is luxurious with a hint of Paris and a funky flair. The Mark Restaurant by Jean-Georges hosts gourmet breakfast, brunch, lunch, late lunch, dinner, dessert, late night menus, and 24-hour room service — with a connecting bar serving up classic and signature cocktails. Guests can pre-order bespoke picnic baskets (complete with cutlery) to take to nearby Central Park.
Guests have a choice between regular guest rooms, studios, or multi-room suites. No detail is left to chance in any of the 152 rooms in the hotel. The details, however, make the rooms. A Crestron control (oversized remote) allows guests to control the lights, temperature, TV, and shades. The phone has a screen for checking the weather. Pull open what looks like a drawer, and you’ll find it’s actually a freezer with ice. Another drawer holds beverages, and yet a third drawer holds snacks and signature Jurassic Flower candles.
The best suites are located on the 14th and 16th floors. The 16th floor suite is outstanding containing 5 gas fireplaces, 5 bedrooms, living room, family room, dining room, upstairs lounge area, full outdoor terrace, kitchen, grand piano, 2 story entryway and ensuite gym. If renting the suite during the holidays, there is the ability to bring the best of New York into the suite. Imagine an ice-skating rink on the terrace, Nut Cracker dancers performing in the living room and other festive New York City traditions. The suite can be fully decorated with live Christmas tree with all the trimmings.
The hotel has the ability to locked off areas of floors or full floors to create a 3-bedroom or 5-bedroom suite for families or guests looking for privacy.
The Mark does take children into consideration, offering free custom strollers for outings, thoughtful yummy snacks, and slumber parties complete with fun tents provided by housekeeping. The same goes for pets. Dogs up to 25 pounds can expect a free Woof Woof kit that includes a luxe doggy bed, water bowls, and branded collars.
The Hotel does not have a spa but in-room massage is available as well as bookings at a local spa. Fekkai Salon is on property for all your facial, hair and nail needs. There is a gym on the 2nd floor with an in-house personal trainer available upon request. Suites can have mini gyms brought in for guests who prefer to work out in their room.
Shoppers should know that The Mark has a partnership with Bergdorf Goodman that grants access to personalized shopping and in-the-know fashion advice. Guests also get free laundry service, shoeshines on the second floor.
