Six Sense Laamu had sent me a detailed email the night before my transfer with step-by-step details of how it would unfold. This was very helpful to know the timing of each step and showed their attention to detail for their guests.
There was a team of smiling faces to greet me as I arrived. I was assigned a GEM (butler) who gave me a tour of the island and then showed me to my room. There is a list of daily activities to choose from as well as treatments at the spa. Your GEM can take care of scheduling your desires.
The island is big but not overwhelming. You are assigned a bicycle to get around. It is also possible to walk the island or if you prefer, you can be picked up and escorted via golf cart.
There are a variety of restaurants to choose from; Longitude which serves themed dinner nights and breakfast. The second restaurant is Zen which serves Japanese food. Chill is a casual over water restaurant allowing for all day dining and a bar to enjoy a cocktail. It is also a great spot to watch the sun set. There is also Leaf Restaurant located above the herb garden serving a variety of international cuisine. Sip Sip is a restaurant where the pool and beach meet serving light bites and drinks.
There is a diving center and water sports area, Den for the kids’ activities, gym, spa, yoga pavilion, eco center and educational area to learn about marine life. You can snorkel off your villa or go to the main reef and jump in. The underwater life is incredible. They also have an outdoor cinema area where they show movies on the big screen a few times per week.
I highly recommend the meditation classes which help you feel centered and welcome the calm of the island. The spa allows you to enjoy a variety of treatments. There is also the option to schedule an Integrated Wellness Consultation.
My over water villa was vibrant and down to earth while feeling peaceful at the same time. The bed faced the wall of glass so you wake to the ocean view and sunshine. There were three terraces; one upstairs, one off the bedroom area and one off the outdoor bathroom area. There are several categories of villas to choose from on the beach and over water, with and without pools.
There is also The Den for children’s activities and babysitting so parents can have some private time while at the resort.
The staff were all very friendly and helpful with anything you needed. The atmosphere is barefoot luxury but also felt like family. The vibe of the island and resort is all about enjoyment in the way that works best for each individual.
