For those living in New York City, the pandemic has kept most of us cooped up in our apartments; myself included.
While studies show being in nature is great for your mental health, it’s not so easy living in the concrete jungle of Manhattan. Or is it?
Central Park covers 843 acres, stretching from the West to East side. Central Park borders run; from the North at 110th Street; to the South at 59th Street; West at Central Park West; to Fifth Avenue on the East Side. It measures 2.5 miles from North to South and 0.5 miles from West to East. These are straight lines through the park which make it sound small. Trust me it is not and you can get lost in its beauty and greenery for hours.
The park includes great landscapes such as the Ramble, Lake, Hallett Nature Sanctuary and the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir.
With the change in weather, it is the perfect time to get out and enjoy nature in New York City. Revitalize your mindset with the sounds of nature in the park. There are hundreds of species of birds and many different types of trees. Just this morning I was surprised and delighted to spot a Blue Jay and a Woodpecker. Not to mention there are swans, turtles and ducks. Enjoy the leaves changing color. Get lost in the Ramble which stretches across 38 acres and is so dense in areas, you will forget where you are.
Take an adventure and stake your claim on top of The Castle. The view from it is spectacular and great for photos. Walk around the Reservoir and feel the energy of the water. Grab a coffee and a park bench and relax for a while people watching.
The park is the perfect place to social distance, re-set your mind and feel at one with nature.
