The Sofitel is both historical and luxurious inside and out. It is located between two canals in the city center. This makes it an easy walk to Dam Square, Madame Tussauds and de Bijenkorf.
The hotel has 177 rooms that includes 52 suite offering a harmonious blend of elements both modern and cultural. The suites are open airy. The focal point, for me, was the large, dare I say enormous, soaking tub. It was just what the perfect remedy after a long day of sight-seeing.
There are two restaurants on property; Bridges (international cuisine) and Oriole (Mediterranean cuisine). You have the option to enjoy a cocktail or afternoon tea at any of the three bars; The Flying Dutchman, Library or Gardne Terrace.
Although the hotel is in the city center, it has a secluded atmosphere.
